Opportunities – Pick of the Week: Flux and Tristan Bates Theatre seek shorts for ‘Emerge’ Showcase

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick:  Flux and Tristan Bates Theatre seek shorts for ‘Emerge’ Showcase

Description: After a sellout debut in 2016, Emerge returns. Emerge is a new platform that gives four emerging writers, directors and a company of actors the opportunity to collaborate/showcase their work and gain feedback from an industry panel. They are seeking 20 minute short plays or excerpts for a performance at the Tristan Bates Theatre in July.

What’s so great about it? We love an opportunity that gives writers the chance to gain that ever valuable feedback on their work. This one offers writers feedback from an industry panel, not to mention that the event will take place at the Tristan Bates Theatre, no less. Also great, is that writers can submit either short plays or excerpts from a longer piece – so you don’t need to worry about writing something new if you are already working on a full length project. The only stipulation is that work must be previously unproduced, although do check the full guidelines out here before submitting. You’ve got until 30 April to get your submission in.

Read the full details here.

Please note, we’ve posted this for your convenience and we’re not affiliated with the organisers of the opportunity.

  1. As the opportunities email didn’t work, hope you don’t mind my letting you and your readers know of our 2017 online playwriting festival;

    FULL CIRCLE RADIO THEATRE LAUNCH NEW ONLINE PLAYWRITING FESTIVAL FOR 2017
    Submissions sought – closing date 30 June 2017
    Following the success of their previously theatre based playwriting festivals, Full Circle Theatre have decided to move the festival online to reach a wider, international, audience.
    Winning entries will be recorded as ‘radio’ plays and launched on our website http://www.fullcircletheatre.net where they will remain available to download free of charge for a year. We will be advertising the festival and the winning playwrights extensively on social media.
    Anyone can enter the festival with plays of any genre, except musicals, whether written for radio or not, as long as they are simple to adapt for ‘radio’ treatment. Full details of how to enter, together with downloads of previous festival winners, can be found at http://www.fullcircletheatre.net

    many thanks
