The Significant Other Festival open for submissions

The Significant Other Festival is an annual festival of 10, 10 minute plays created in just 10 days.  The festival runs in London and Manchester.

This year the 6th Significant Other Festival is at The Vaults Theatre in London with performances from 14-18 March 2017.

Applications are now open for writers, actors and directors. 10 writers will create their 10 minute masterpiece, joined by 10 directors and 30 actors – all in 10 days. 10 original works will be created around the theme “significant other”.

If you are chosen for the project, you will be asked to write a 10 minute play for 3 actors in the course of 5 days (4th – 9th March ). The theme is the “significant other” however there will be other elements and limitations which will be allocated at the Inspiration Session on Saturday 4th March. The play must be written for 3 actors – gender and age will be determined at the Inspiration Session on 4th March. During the 5 days of writing, you will be asked to submit your writing as you proceed. Please note that there will be some feedback and dramaturgy required during your process with the producers.

Applications from all ages, abilities and experience are welcome but you must be available on the dates listed on the website.

What to submit: You must supply an excerpt of a piece of your writing (plays are preferred, maximum 4 pages) as well as a cover letter/statement (maximum 1 page) with details as to why you would like to be involved and if you have any previous theatrical experience.
