Chaskis Theatre: Local Playwrights Response Scheme – open for applications

 

 Chaskis Theatre’s playwrights response scheme is part of Las Americas Above – an exciting festival of international work and new writing in the heart of London’s West End!

“Chaskis Theatre is inviting ten emerging writers from around the capital to join us in a three week development period. The Local Playwrights Response Scheme is a central part of Las Americas Above, where a series of 10-15 minute pieces will be developed alongside our Young Actors ensemble in response to the work produced by the company on the first week of the festival. With writing workshops led by award winning playwrights Christine Evans and Jose Rivera, selected playwrights will work with our directors towards a final rehearsed reading, which will be performed by our young actors on Sunday 14 August.”

LAS AMERICAS ABOVE

Chaskis Theatre is taking over the Above The Arts Theatre, in Leicester Square from 25 July – 15 August, with a transnational theatre festival. The festival will feature UK premieres of plays by outstanding American playwrights, including Christopher Chen, Nate Rufus Edelman, Christine Evans and Jose Rivera, alongside live music, visual art, and development programmes for local artists.

Applicant Guidelines

Essential criteria:

  •  Must submit a play –either full-length or one act
  •  Submission must not have received a full production
  • Interest in new writing and the international stimulus that Chaskis Theatre offers.
  • Available for dates 25 July – 14 August
