Brockley Jack accepting submissions for Write Now 7

Write Now 7 began at the Jack in 2010, and has run for six successive years.

In their words:

Under the artistic direction of Kate Bannister, the Write Now  festival is an essential part of the Jack Studio Theatre’s yearly programme, which each year looks to find and produce the most exciting and significant work of emerging writers who have a connection to south east London.

The month-long festivals are created from submissions of previously unperformed plays from emerging or established writers. Alongside our full production we run writing workshops, post show discussions and each year we launch the festival with the performance of ten minute plays on a given theme.

The Jack Studio Theatre is delighted to launch Write Now 7.  Submissions are now open!

From the entries submitted they will select one winning play. This play will be given a full production in a three week run at the Jack Studio in May 2016. The playwright will be given the opportunity to fully explore and develop the play before rehearsals, with mentoring support from the director and Write Now dramaturg. They will also be given financial support to attend rehearsals and performances.

We are passionate about producing plays that engage with how we live today. In 2016 we are looking for bold new voices and stories that engage with and reflect contemporary culture and society.  All playwrights who submit must have a strong connection to south east London.

They are now accepting submissions of scripts.

Full guidelines and a 2016 application form are available to download here:  Guidelines      Application form

Please read the guidelines before you submit your play.

Seven Shorts for Write Now 7.

The festival will open with the premiere of seven short plays on a selected theme. This part of the festival is open to all, and playwrights of the shorts do not need to have a connection to south east London. Information on the shorts submissions and theme will be announced in January 2016.

Deadline: 29 January 2016
