The North Wall (Oxford) accepting applications for writer residency

The North Wall Arts Centre is offering an in-depth high-quality experience to talented young writers and directors. The TheatreCraft Easter project brings these two vital roles centre stage, offering them a team of professional actors and highly experienced mentors to work with in a safe and supportive space.

The residency runs from Monday 23rd March – Saturday 4th April 2015 and is completely free of charge, including accommodation and all meals.

If you have a passion for theatre, and a genuine commitment to working as a playwright or director, we would like to invite you to apply to come and spend your Easter living and working at our beautiful venue in north Oxford for two weeks of creative exploration in making and staging script-based work. Places are strictly limited, and the work will be intensive, challenging and exciting. You will be treated as professionals, and expectations will be high. The work will be showcased in front of a public audience at a scratch performance evening on Saturday 4th April 2015.

FURTHER INFORMATION:

Young Writers: You will need to submit one or a maximum of two short scripts / script extracts (up to 10 pages) alongside your application. We will invite shortlisted applicants for interviews early in the New Year. Upon acceptance, we will mentor you in the writing or completing of a rehearsal draft so that it is ready in time for Easter. Your script is likely to develop further during the residency, and you will work with professional directors, actors and an experienced writing mentor to facilitate this process.
