OnStageUs annual LGBT+ new writing event looking for 8 short plays

OutStageUs is an annual LGBT+ new writing event run by Manchester based Hive North. Each year up to eight short plays, scenes or monologues are selected to be developed and brought to production at The Lowry, Salford.

The successful script writers will receive a fee of £300 and be offered the opportunity to develop their script, working online with a dramaturg. The programme will be structured to suit the writer’s individual needs to ensure they have the best opportunity to develop their work.

All scripts, whether selected for development or not, will receive feedback.

They are looking for scripts that explore LGBT+ themes and especially welcome scripts from LGBT+ and BAME writers to promote their ethos of celebrating diversity.

Scripts can be something that writers have already been working on, or can be written specifically for the event. They can be monologues, duologues, short scenes or spoken word.

  • Number of Characters: 1 – 4
  • Monologue/Spoken Word Length: 2 minutes – 5 minutes
  • Duologue/Scene Length: 5 minutes – 15 minutes
