Opportunity for free script reading service for three female playwrights living in Manchester

As part of Brush Stroke’s work with Manchester International Festival, they are offering THREE female playwrights living in the Greater Manchester* area the opportunity to access their script reading service FREE OF CHARGE.

Selected playwrights will have their work read by Naomi who will produce a detailed script report identifying the play’s strengths and weaknesses plus making recommendations for the writer’s next steps in developing their work. Naomi currently works as a script reader for The National Theatre and Theatre 503. She has also read for the Papatango Prize, The Royal Exchange Theatre and Sheffield Theatres.

To be considered please email naomi@brushstrokeorder.co.uk with a brief description of the play you’d like read, your postcode and why you’d benefit from this opportunity (max 150 words) by 5pm Monday 11th May. Naomi will notify all writers of the outcome by 20th May.

Due to the current levels of under representation in theatre of writers from certain demographics, they are especially keen to hear from female writers aged 40+, BAME writers, writers with disabilities or those on low incomes/in receipt of benefits who might find their usual fees prohibitive.

* Greater Manchester includes Bury, Bolton Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Wigan, Trafford and the cities of Manchester and Salford.

Deadline: 5pm Monday 11th May.
