LPW Play Club Lockdown Edition: Submission Window Open

Our submission window is officially open for the lockdown edition of #PlayClub!

We’re looking for brand new short plays written in response to our bonus play: A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney. Selected plays will be given a rehearsed reading at a special event at the end of this year.

Plays must be direct responses to A Taste of Honey , this can be anything from the theme to the style to a character to lines of dialogue you liked – the world is your oyster.

And if you haven’t had time to read yet, never fear – you can still read and send in your submissions.

Submission Guidelines

  • Please submit:
  • An original, unperformed short play
  • No more than 10 pages long
  • 12 sized font
  • Double spaced
  • A title and character page
  • Between 2-4 characters

1 Character plays/monologues will be accepted at a maximum of 5 pages, adhering to the same regulations above!

Submissions should be emailed to: playclub@londonplaywrights.org  with a subject line of ‘Play Club Lockdown Submission – (Writers Name).

As we mentioned previously, plays should be a response to A Taste of Honey  in some form or another. If you aren’t sure about anything, feel free to ping us any questions either via email or on the Facebook groups.

To help inspire some creativity for everyone in this time, this edition of #PlayClub is open to everyone and anyone to submit to – you do not have to be an LPW member.

Looking forward to reading your scripts – happy writing!

Submissions close on Sunday 26 April at midday.

Hi James, we’ll read them all once the submission window closes and then we usually make the selection within a couple of weeks (although it may take longer if we get more submissions this time round). The selected piece will be performed as a rehearsed reading in London, hopefully in December or soon after – depending on what happens with the re-opening of theatres.
