Seasons Greetings from London Playwrights!

It’s that time of year again and all of us at London Playwrights’ Workshop would like to wish you a very happy festive season! We’d also like to thank you for your support over the last year.

To all our members, we honestly can’t thank you enough for your continued support and for making it possible to keep our organisation going. And to everyone who visits our website, shares our posts and spreads the word about our work – we couldn’t keep going without you either!

We’ve got so much in the pipeline for 2020, from #WrAP2020 to our new writer development programme – so watch this space for some very exciting updates in the new year.

In the meantime, have a fantastic Christmas! From, The LPW team

A few highlights from London Playwrights in 2019…

In his new role as Literary Projects Manager, George Bailey reinvented our online book club – bringing us Play Club, where writers were invited to write a short play in response to the chosen text. This month, four selected plays were performed at the Old Red Lion. Thanks to all who came along – the atmosphere was amazing and the writing was phenomenal!

Jane Ryan, our Artistic Development Manager also pulled off an amazing project this year! Partnering with The Bush Theatre, podcast company One Fine Play, and playwright, Temi Wilkey – Jane produced the brilliant Podcast, Making It With Temi Wilkey.

This year, we also brought you our guide to producing your own work. Designed to empower and equip you to put you own work stage, this guide is packed full of tips and information.

Lots of you have told us how you’ve been using the guide to help you develop your projects.

Available for download now.

In March last year, we brought you Write Hacks – a series of tips to inspire you and boost your creativity. Write Hacks is still available here just in case you missed it!

Of course, we kicked off 2019 with #WrAP, which saw over 150 of you embark on writing a new play in January. We’ll be starting 2020 in the same way with #WrAP2020, so if you haven’t signed up yet, do it now! This time, we’ll also be offering writers the chance to win a year of mentoring and development.

Find out more here.

Phew! That was a busy year! And that’s without mentioning the website makeover, new team members (more on this coming January!), the amazing writers we met in our workshops, the wonderful playwrights we interviewed for our blog, and the almost 700 opportunities we posted!

With your continued support, we plan to make 2020 bigger and better than ever – so thanks for everything, and here’s to another year supporting the next generation of playwrights!

THANK YOU!
