We are looking for an Intern to join the LPW team!

London Playwrights’ Workshop is looking for an intern to support our work. If you’re passionate about new writing, interested in blogging, and happy to give a wide variety of tasks your best shot, then we want to hear from you!

What we’re looking for: we’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, who can support us with sourcing and posting playwriting opportunities and can help us to create new resources for our website; as well as assisting us in the production of a new writing event we are hosting in December.

Ideally, this role is suited to an emerging playwright, who already has their eye on new writing opportunities and has an idea of what writers need in terms of resources and support. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, respond to deadlines and adopt a hands on approach to the tasks they are given.

What you get: the chosen candidate will become a valued member of our small, friendly team and get the chance to make a difference to the new writing landscape in the UK and beyond! You’ll also get first hand experience in working with WordPress and blogging as well as experience in producing a new writing event.

We’re always keen to develop individual interests, and for the right candidate their will be opportunities to develop your own projects with LPW in the future (previous interns have stayed on with us and done exactly this!).

Duties:

  • Sourcing playwriting opportunities from a range of websites/ social media channels.
  • Posting opportunities on our website.
  • Supporting us with administrative tasks which will help us to develop new writing resources (this will involve posting on WordPress, conducting research, updating our databases).
  • Acting as an assistant producer for a new writing event we are producing in London on 16th December 2019 (this will including supporting us with preparations for the event as well as on the day).

Skills/ attributes:

  • A keen eye for detail and an excellent standard of written English.
  • An interest in new writing, particularly in London – and a knowledge of online resources for playwrights.
  • The desire to support emerging writers.
  • Highly reliable and able to deliver work to agreed deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to new tasks.
  • Experience in WordPress is not necessary as full training will be given. However, it is important that the candidate has competent IT skills.

Commitment: Around 6-8 hours per week. This is a flexible role and most of the work can be done at home. We are preferably looking for someone who will be available and can be in London all day on Monday 16th December for the new writing event (although, we could potentially work around this for the right candidate).

We’ll need someone who can commit to the role for a period of 4 months, starting on or around 20 November 2019.

You do not have to live in London to apply for this role, although being able to travel in on an occasional basis is desirable.

You must be over 18 to apply for this role.

As we’re a non-profit, this role is unpaid.

How to apply: please send your CV, a covering letter telling us a bit about yourself and why you’d like to join our team and an equal opportunities monitoring form  (Why do we ask for this information? Click if you’re curious!) to jobs@londonplaywrightsblog.com.

Deadline: 5 November 2019
