BBC: TV Drama Writers’ Programme – open for applications

The TV Drama Writers’ Programme is a unique initiative that gives promising screenwriters the opportunity to write the first episode of an original series or serial for the BBC.

The programme began in 2014 as the Drama Production Writers’ Scheme and was run by the BBC’s in-house Drama Production department.  Since 2016 the scheme has been run by BBC Writersroom.

Applications for the TV Drama Writers’ Programme are normally open once a year for credited and/or agented writers.  The 2020 Programme is open for applications until 12 noon, Monday 1st July 2019.  *Please note* This is a separate scheme from their open submission Script Room, with more restricted entry criteria.
