The Guinea Pig Lab literary board would like to invite all playwrights to enter their 2018 search for plays. The board is looking specifically for scripts written as one-woman plays and plans to select THREE for staged readings in spring 2019 in Wichita, Kansas. The competition, named in honor of Guinea Pig Lab volunteer Stephanie Lehr, is open to all playwrights however, two of the plays will be selected from Kansas playwrights. (This allows them to continue in their mission to support Kansas playwrights, but also allows them to bring in new playwrights so the winners can network and share experiences).
Call for entries: The Guinea Pig Lab is calling for full-length or one-act plays.
Winner and runners-up will be notified in mid-January. The winner will also receive a staged reading from the Guinea Pig Lab in the spring of 2019, dates TBA. Winners of the competition are welcome to attend the event and will be acknowledged with certificates and a short ceremony – “as we want to ensure the playwright is in attendance so they can fully reap the benefits of a public reading. Prior to the reading, the winner will receive a session with our resident dramaturg, Dr. Dan Bacalzo, a former theatre critic and professor.”
