Theatre Exchange Birmingham is inviting writers to submit extracts for their next scratch showcase at Theatre Absolute Shopfront Theatre in Coventry city centre, taking place on Monday 20th January 2014.
What to submit: This is an open brief, however the piece must be intended for Theatre.
They can under certain circumstances (musical pieces, for instance) accept submissions with actors or directors already attached, but please email at theatreexchange@hotmail.co.uk before submitting.
What you get: Writers are given opportunity to sit in on a two hour rehearsal of your piece with actors and a director followed by a rehearsed reading in front of a supportive audience who will provide written feedback.
In addition, if chosen for the 20th January you’ll be automatically put in the mix for The Best of Theatre Exchange, a new writing showcase planned for Summer 2014. One piece from the Theatre Absolute event will be selected along with pieces from our last event in November at The Old Joint Stock and our next one in April at Birmingham Rep
What to submit: You will need to include:
- your chosen extract which is no longer than 10 minutes (8-10 pages)
- brief synopsis
- character breakdown
- your CV
