The Dot Collective is a professional theatre company and registered charity that creates and provides professional theatre to those living with dementia, the elderly and those in care.
They are developing new plays in collaboration with dementia groups in South London for 2018. The project is called One Hundred Trillion based on the fact that there are 100 trillion synapses in the brain and signals that form memories and thoughts move through an individual nerve cell as a tiny electrical charge and the nerve cells connect to one another at synapses. In a similar way to how the brain functions, this project will provide those signals through theatrical workshops with those living in care and connect those living with dementia to the arts.
The project will create new, short plays in collaboration with those living with dementia. They are looking for 4 playwrights to join their team in May/June 2018. Their team will consist of a Director, workshop leader, actor and playwright who will be running storytelling, creative writing and theatrical workshops with dementia groups. They will assign a playwright to a dementia group and over 4 weeks together will develop 4 new short plays to be published and performed. Playwrights will be remunerated for their time in the workshops.
