Opportunities – Pick of the Week: Stage Front: A Night Celebrating Older Women in Theatre – call out for short plays

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Stage Front: A Night Celebrating Older Women in Theatre – call out for short plays

Description: Instinct Theatre and Loosely Based Theatre are  holding an evening of short plays in response to the need for more roles for older female actors, to be held at Theatre N16.

What’s so great about it? We always think it’s great when people respond to a diversity issue within the theatre industry (and beyond) by taking positive action – and this opportunity responds to the lack of roles for older female actors in theatre. Even better, they are accepting submissions from all writers – so you needn’t be excluded from this one if you’re not an older woman; in fact, we think it’s a great opportunity to create some interesting characters and to have your work performed at a London venue – whilst addressing diversity at the same time! They are accepting 10-15 minute scripts with no more than 4 actors, which put a 40+ woman centre stage and the deadline is 25 February.
