Independent company seeking 60 minute play as part of a new writing festival

An independent company  is looking for a new 60 minute, 1 act play for a run next June 2018. The play will be put on as part of a new writing festival, and will be directed by Polyanna, the person to contact for this particular event.

The event is organised by Peter James CBE (Peter is one of the founders of the Liverpool Everyman, former Director of the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith and Crucible Theatre Sheffield. He has also worked alongside Laurence Oliver and Peter Hall).

They also expect the festival to be attended by some of the heads of London fringe venues, to which many of the shows from the festival’s previous years have transferred.

They are open to ideas, but are seeking a play that can convey a good story within 60 minutes, and is a 3-4 hander.

This is an unpaid opportunity and is open to everyone, whoever playwrights will preferably be London based.

How to apply: To find out more and/or to apply, send an introductory email to newcombepollyanna@gmail.com.

Deadline: 25 December 2017

  1. Bit puzzled by this one. Is it a new festival or an established festival devoted to new writing? Where is it? And when? The post isn’t clear. I twice emailed the main contact requesting further details so that I could see what kind of work had been produced at the ‘event’ or ‘festival’ in the past. I received no reply.

Glad for any clarification as it sounds like a promising opportunity.

    1. Hi Lloyd,

This opportunity was sent via direct contact, so we received as much information as there is in the post. We will chase this up for you though, and hopefully get some answers to you asap!

      All the best,

      LPB team.

  2. Hello,

I got a reply from Polly, she’s been busy, so there is someone there. They want hour-long plays 3/4 handers, no theme in particular. It’s for a festival. Send your play and a bio ( not essential) to the email provided.
